I was at Lush the other day to buy some of their Naked products (products without any packaging whatsoever), and at checkout the cashier apologizes for not having any bags for putting the products in.
This was more than fine by me since I wasn’t going to take the bag anyway. Not to mention I already had the small paper bag they use to put the product in. If I took the bag, what I would have had is a product, in a bag, in a bag.
When looking at it through this angle, it’s kind of obvious. Why have two bags for one thing?
Maybe for the sake of convenience, but the average person (or consumer) autonomously accepts all these extra little things that don’t really make sense anymore when we make purchases (another example, receipts).
